Vove’s Climate Commitment: Using 20% of Profits to Grow and Sustain Biodiverse Forests
At Vove, we believe that sustainability requires more than just reducing emissions - it demands proactive investment in the planet’s future. That’s why we commit 20% of our annual taxable profits to forest restoration and protection initiatives. This commitment is not just a pledge; it's a core part of our business model, ensuring that our success directly contributes to environmental regeneration.

Understanding Our Profit Allocation
Our definition of profit is straightforward: it's the net income remaining after covering operating expenses, financing costs, income taxes, statutory charges, and shareholder dividends. From this net profit, twenty perfcent is allocated to our Forestry Fund annually.
It's important to note that the carbon offsetting we perform on a per-order basis, such as offsetting shipping emissions, is included in this 20% allocation. This means that part of your order’s carbon impact is already accounted for in our yearly environmental contribution.

Strategic Deployment for Maximum Impact
We understand that meaningful forest restoration projects require careful planning and significant resources. Therefore, if the allocated funds are not immediately utilized, they are carried forward and pooled with future allocations. This approach allows us to invest in larger, more impactful projects, ensuring that our contributions lead to substantial environmental benefits.
The timing between profit allocation and public reporting may vary, as we do not make these investments at regular intervals. Instead, we focus on accumulating sufficient funds to support significant projects, which also allows time for thorough analysis and selection of the most effective initiatives.
The Importance of Forests
Forests play a crucial role in combating climate change and supporting biodiversity. According to One Tree Planted, a single mature tree can absorb approximately 10 kilograms (22 pounds) of CO₂ per year. With a planting density of 1,000 trees per hectare, that equates to roughly 10 tonnes of CO₂ sequestered per hectare annually.
The IUCN reports that forests and other land-based ecosystems absorb about one-third of the CO₂ released from fossil fuels every year, making them one of the most effective natural tools we have to combat global warming.
Beyond Carbon Sequestration
Forests offer numerous benefits beyond carbon capture:
- Biodiversity & Habitat: Forests are home to approximately 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity, providing critical habitats for countless species. As noted by the Geneva Environment Network, they are especially vital in regions stewarded by Indigenous communities.
- Human Livelihoods: According to the United Nations, over 1.6 billion people depend on forests for food, energy, shelter, and income - making forest preservation a direct contributor to human well-being.
- Water Regulation & Soil Protection: Forests help stabilize river flows, filter sediments, reduce erosion, and maintain water quality. These natural services are detailed in forest hydrology studies, which show how root systems and canopy cover protect ecosystems and communities downstream.
- Wildfire Risk Reduction: The World Economic Forum highlights how sustainable forestry practices - such as thinning dense stands and managing invasive species - help lower wildfire severity and enhance ecosystem resilience.
Our Ongoing Commitment
Each year, our finance team calculates our net profit based on audited financials, and 20% of that profit is allocated to our Forestry Fund. We are transparent about this process, and details of our contributions and the projects we support are published in our annual sustainability report.
By choosing Vove, you're not only selecting sustainable household essentials but also contributing to meaningful environmental restoration efforts. Together, we can make a significant impact on our planet's health and future.
Every product you buy from Vove helps restore ecosystems, protect biodiversity, and invest in a healthier planet. These aren’t abstract impacts - they’re forests you can walk in, water you can drink, and a climate your children can thrive in.
